Festivals & Events
The New Jersey Association for Jazz Education sponsors a variety of educational festivals and events. Through our festivals, performance opportunities are provided for high school jazz ensembles of any size. We also support many local independent jazz festivals and feature various jazz events throughout the state.
The NJAJE is proud to present of a variety of educational activities, presentations and opportunities including The New Jersey All State Jazz Ensemble and The New Jersey All State Jazz Choir. Participation in these ensembles is attained by way of students first successfully auditioning for their regional ensembles and thus earning eligibility to then audition for the All State groups. In addition to the Region and All State ensembles, the NJAJE is pleased to offer events for small jazz combos. Through personalized activities, the NJAJE presents either an adjudicated jazz combo festival or we will send out some of our very best jazz educators to work one on one with jazz combos at schools throughout the state. The NJAJE is the sponsor of The New Jersey State Jazz Band Festival, a state wide competition for high school jazz bands throughout New Jersey. In March of each year, 45-50 high school jazz bands compete in a preliminary round. The top nine bands in each of three Divisions then move on to compete again in the state finals for each division in late April.
