NJAJE MIDDLE SCHOOL JAZZ FESTIVAL

PLEASE NOTE THAT AS OF OCTOBER 6, 2025, THE 2026 MIDDLE SCHOOL JAZZ FESTIVAL HAS REACHED IT'S ENROLLMENT CAPACITY. IF YOU WISH TO BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST FOR A POTENTIAL PERFORMANCE SPOT OR FOR AN ALTERNATIVE FESTIVAL DAY, PLEASE CONTINUE TO FILL OUT THE MEMBERSHIP FORM LINKED BELOW.
The New Jersey Association for Jazz Education is proud to offer an opportunity for middle and junior high schools to perform a variety of styles in the jazz idiom for peers, parents, and a panel of adjudicators. Each ensemble will receive a short clinic after the performance by one of the panelists. At the conclusion of the festival, special awards will be presented to an outstanding performer from each ensemble, as well as outstanding soloists and outstanding sections.

Beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, NJAJE will offer a Middle School Festival Membership. Directors joining NJAJE with this membership category will receive a performance slot at the Middle School Festival, as well as all benefits of NJAJE membership including Downbeat Magazine and the November Conference and Luncheon. The cost of this membership is $225. A second band from the same school may register for $150.

Please read the Rules and Regulations of the festival before applying. The Festival and Membership application can be found here.
