JAZZ HOUSE KIDS EVENTS

CHiCA Power is a jazz education and gender equity program at JAZZ HOUSE KiDS. During the course of the 7-week residency, 50 girls in 6-12th grade will learn from an all-female faculty of jazz musicians and guest speakers, honing their musical skills while learning confidence, collaboration, and self-kindness.
WHO:
- Instrumentalists in 6th-12th grade who identify as female or non-binary
- One year of experience on your instrument required
- Jazz experience not required
* Students who have attended CHiCA Power in the past but not other JAZZ HOUSE programs will be automatically put on a waiting list.
WHAT:
- 7 sessions of jazz education with all-female faculty
- Concerts, conversations, ensemble rehearsals culminating in a final performance
- Improvisation, technique, theory instruction
- Motivational social and emotional coaching, mentoring, and education
- "Girls Night Out" jam session and party (optional)
- Trip to see DIVA Jazz Orchestra at Dizzy's Club in NYC (optional)
- Leadership Summit with powerful & inspirational women from other fields
- Final performance for friends and family
- Lifelong friends-- find your tribe!!
WHEN:
- Saturdays 1:00-4:00PM
- February 22nd-April 4th
- TBA Concert the week of April 6th
*Students must be able to commit to attending at least 5 of the 7 sessions
